National EMS Memorial Service Honoree

	John R. Small Plaza Volunteer Rescue Squad Virginia Beach, Virginia

John joined the Plaza Squad on June 21, 1972. He devoted his time to training and became an emergency medical technician in 1978. He held many positions in the squad during his years of membership and served as squad captain for four years.

Just before his death from cardiac arrest, John had worked a call involving a vehicular extrication. He collapsed at his home and died at the age of 46 on October 3, 1982.
