Debra M. Samson
Hull-Daisetta Ambulance Service Hull, Texas |
|---|
Debbie became an EMT in Canada several years before moving to the United States where she became a Texas EMT in January, 1995.
She had joined the Hull-Daisetta Ambulance Service one month prior to her death, and had taken the EMT-I test the night before the fatal accident.
On May 12, 1995, the ambulance Debbie was driving was struck by a tractor trailer in an intersection as she and her partner were transporting a critical cardiac patient to the hospital.
Debbie was flown by Life Flight to Hermann Hospital in Houston where she later died of massive trauma to the chest and abdomen and closed head injury.
Debbie's partner was treated and released, but their patient died later that afternoon.
The driver of the tractor trailer was also treated and released. Debbie and her husband, Kenneth, were the parents of two daughters, Amanda and Tasha.
She was also survived by her parents, Anna and Bob Proctor, and nine brothers and sisters. As a well respected and much liked EMT, Debbie is dearly missed by her co-workers.
