Heavy snow and ice covered the roads in Maine on January 30, 1992, as 39-year-old Richard Farrar made his way to Corinna Ambulance Service to pick up an ambulance to respond to a call. Richard lost control on the ice, collided with a car, and hit a tree. He died shorty afterward at Mayo Regional Hospital.
Richard served eight years with the Army National Guard and was a member of the 192nd Army National Guard in Bangor, Maine. Additionally, he was a member of Lodge No. 39 Masons, Chapter No. 42 of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Ripley Grange, East Somerset Pomona Grange, Maine State Grange, and the National
Grange. He had been chosen Prince of the Maine State Grange in 1971 and was active in the Ripley Ramblers 4-H Club.
Linda and Richard and their children, Allan and Shelley, were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Dover-Foxcroft.
