Jerry Decker, 54, died on February 27, 1992, while serving as a volunteer crew member with Hunter Ambulance. He had answered a cardiac call and was transporting the patient to the hospital. After driving twenty-five miles of the trip, Jerry suffered a heart attack himself. The ambulance he was driving crossed the median and opposite lanes of traffic before stopping in a ditch.

He was survived by his wife, Barbara.
