NEMSMS Honoree Gerald D. Bostic

Danville Life Saving Crew
Danville, Virginia

When standby calls came in at the Danville Crew, Gerald was the first to volunteer, and it was on a standby call that Gerald lost his life.

As Gerald and two other crew members were en route to standby at a local football game, the crew's station wagon crashed into the unlighted rear of a logging truck.

Gerald died 16 days later on October 29, 1967 from injuries he received in the accident. He was 27 years old. Gerald had been employed as a linotype machinist by the Register Publishing Company.

He left behind his wife, Glenda, and three daughters, Charisse, Elizabeth, and Lorie.
