	Elizabeth W. "Beth" Barber AirLife-Denver Aurora, Colorado

Hours before she died in the horrific crash of an AirLife medical helicopter on December 14, 1997, flight nurse Beth Barber told a friend she had no fear of flying in a helicopter. Saving lives was what she was trying to do the night she lost hers Beth, a 33-year old Aurora, Colorado resident, was a nurse for 10 years and had beenwith AirLife since 1993. She volunteered on the Keystone Arapahoe Basin ski patrol for eight years.

"Beth was a true health care professional, always concerned about the patient," said Steve Gittelman, an AirLife flight nurse."She was a great friend to everyone, and always had a smile on her face."

Beth lost her life just after lifting off from the scene of a major accident when the helicopter struck electrical wires and crashed. All members of the crew and the patient who was critically injured in a head-on collision were killed in the crash.

Beth's husband of six months, Bob Mayer, is a nurse at University Hospital where she also worked.
